Great Resources for Images

Most people want to get the most for their money. I do, too. That’s why I thought I would share with you some of the resources I have found for images.

There are plenty of paid services out there like Shutterstock, Fotosearch, GettyImages and iStockPhoto. If you are short on time and need a great image that fits your needs, your best bet might be to find an image using one of these services. Yes, you will have to pay for using their images, but they are great images.

But, if you have more time available and you are handy with software like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, you might find that one of the free image sites works for you. Generally, there are some terrific images on these sites, but you may need to do some editing to fit your needs regarding color, tone and maybe even content.

For the do-it-yourself-er, here are some websites that offer images that you can use for your own projects:

  • Pixabay.comĀ – great source for free photos
  • OpenClipArt.org – wonderful for vector images that you can edit in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Dreamstime.com – has a selection of free photos as well as paid images
  • PublicDomainSherpa.com – links to many sources of images, but also tells you how to credit the photos so you can use them.

If you are uncertain of how copyright laws work, or what things are copyrighted, please visit the U.S. Copyright Office website.
